I have to post this here...
Because unlike many who have the fun spoiled early by peers or parental choice my nine year old still tries to believe and he also reads my blog so I can't put it there.
but anyway on to the point... Do you notice the difference in these two pictures:

and which do you do at your home?
wrapped or unwrapped, that is the question.
I have essentially won the debate at my home. For the following reasons:
We have done both and even though Kyle claims "unwrapping" is half the fun - he has seen just as much enjoyment from the gifts sitting there in a pile with no wrapping in all their glory.
With four kids, unwrapping can get tedious because you have to do the "slow down everyone", "wait its not your turn yet" or the dreaded "I think a gift got accidentally thrown away in all that wrapping paper"
Not to mention - hiding santa specific paper, the sheer man hours of wrapping all that stuff for four kids, and all the trash it creates.
So you won't move me to the 'Santa Wraps' team, but I would like to know if I am in the minority.
In Cjane's forum its currently tied.....

To All the Long-Legged Ladies
Does anyone know where to buy "Tall" pants with about a 34 inch inseam? I used to get mine at Maurices and I loved them, but the closest one is in Oklahoma somewhere. Since I'm not a great shopper, any tips would be helpful.
Thanks!

Babysitting Help
One of the classes I'm taking next semester is on a Tuesday from 11:30am-12:50pm. Ben works from home a few days a week and would likely be home to watch Austin during this time, but he can't control when meetings are scheduled and usually has to be in the office for those. So I'm needing someone or a few people who are willing to sort of be on "stand by" in case Ben can't be at home on a Tuesday. Chances are I don't know when he can and can't be at home until monday night, so I'd need someone who has a pretty flexable schedule that could work Austin in at the last minute. I'm totally willing to pay $5/hr (is that high/low? I have NO idea what the going rate is for sitter these days). If anyone can help me out, that'd be great!!!

Piano for Sale
For anyone in the market, I am selling my piano. It is an Elburn 1954 spinet piano made for the Jenkins company. It is a great piano for beginning students. It has a very nice sound board that is not easy to find in older pianos. It comes with a matching longer duet bench. I am the second owner of the piano and I have had it for five years. The mahogany finish does have some scratches, etc and several of the keys are chipped. I recommend filing all of the keys down. My tuner charges $150 for this service. The other problem with the piano is that right damper pedal has a slight squeak when pressed. The piano would have to be taken to the shop to repair the pedal and would probably be quite expensive. I am asking $500 or better offer for it. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Erin

Scrabble Tile Pendant Necklaces
Kristen and I had so much fun making the scrabble tile pendant necklaces at Super Saturday last week that we decided to make some more. I bought some of the necklace parts that I couldn't find in the craft stores on e-bay in bulk. They should be here by the end of the week. So if you want some, I'll sell them to you for what they cost me. It is $1.00 for a tile, a sticker seal, and a bail (the thing you glue on the back of the tile). I have about 50 extra. Let me know if you want some.
Happy Christmas crafting,
Erin

Christmas Party
Hi everyone!
Andrea and I are knee deep in planning this year's Christmas Partay! It will be Friday, December 4th at 7 PM - so save the date! And as always, everyone's invited! I will be sending out evites in a week...or later so you'll get one if I have your email address, otherwise know that this is also an invite and extend it to anyone and everyone! OK, so we are hoping to have it be more of an outdoor event this year. So a few fires, a nice rudolf Christmas sweater and a beanie should do just the trick! OK - so the reason for the post -
1. Does anyone own (probably not, but just in case) a few nice big round tables (like the church has)?
2. Does anybody have any round table cloths that we could possibly borrow??
Just shoot me an email at kellymckendrick{at}msn{dot}com!
Thank you!

Entertainment Center
We have a great entertainment center that we no longer use. It has tons of storage and will hold a large t.v. (the one we had in it weighed about 200lbs). It's still very sturdy and in pretty good condition. Just let me know it you or someone you know would like it. Please help me get it out of my living room. :D

Taste of Home Magazine - $2.88 a year!!!
I just came across this deal for "Taste of Home" magazine - $2.88 a year. That I know of it's only for a limited time. I love this magazine because it has tons of recipes that are very cook-friendly, and most of the time does not require fancy-schmancy ingredients and complicated techniques.
https://publicationstation.storesecured.com/
It does not require a coupon code but you must select Checkout before the price will adjust. You can view your price adjustment before you pay.
I've ordered from this website before. Every so often they have these awesome deals for magazines. Dirt cheap.

Refrigerator/Freezer fixer
Can anyone recommend a refrigerator/freezer technician? The freezer side of my fridge is not cooling that well. My husband has tried everything he knows to do and it's still not fixed. Great blog to follow.
Don't know how many of you ladies have seen this one, but it's a really great blog to follow, especially for someone like me that is learning what the meaning of frugality means. She offers lots of great information about coupons, sales, freebies and ways to earn extra income (mind you, you won't get rich off of these, but a penny earned is a penny earned). Enjoy!

Toilet Training Tips please!
Hey Sistas!!
I need some advice. Badly.
My son, Sam, turned two in February and that got me thinking about potty training. Oh boy. I can't tell you the dread that descends over me by those words. We did get him a little toilet seat for his birthday, but that's about all that's happened since then. Please, please, please -- could you comment or email me (khall63@gmail.com) some strategies/methods that have worked for you? I feel so confused because some experts say you should have started at 6 mos, and others say wait until they're "ready" at two and a half. Then others say use a timer and take the kid to the toilet every 20 minutes, and still other experts argue that it has to be child-initiated, don't force them. Do you use bribes - candy and sticker charts - or just applaud and congratulate the boy? What to do??
Whatever the case, I feel that now's the time, whether I want to or not, the sooner the better! I'm hoping and praying that this will be a swift process. So what works?

Sewing help quick!
I have about 8 pairs of pant that my kids have with holes in them so I wanted to cut them and make them shorts since we don't have the $ to buy summer clothes. The problem is they start fraying around the edges and I try to fold them to hide it but they keep coming unfolded. I have NO idea how to sew and don't own a machine. I want to know if anyone knows how to sew so I can pay you to make a little hem to keep the bottom folded. We leave for Cali on Friday and I am hoping to get them fixed before then so my kids won't look homeless. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!

HELP ME!!!
Couple of things here ladies.
1. I need a very mathematically smart gal to tutor me for some crazy algebra crap (sorry if that offends you). In August, I have to take a placement test to get into the Statistics class at CCCCD. The last time I did anything remotely related to math was when I was a sophomore in High School and I got a D. Needless to say I can't rely on the Spirit to get me through it.
2. Starting July 13, I will be taking one measly class at CCCCD. It is only a month long, and it would be Monday thru Wednesday from 10-12 (more like 9:45-12:30). I would just need a hand with my kids on those days, and who knows, you might be lucky enough to get some cold hard cash for your service. One person to help would be great, however, I am not opposed to sending them somewhere new every day. Just email me @ haleyhyoung@hotmail.com, and let me know your willingness!
Love you all!

Tile w/ Vinyl
So back in November at the Super Saturday, I made the tile that had the Thomas Eddison quote on it, and yesterday Austin totally shattered it. Lovely. I want to make another! Who/where did we get the vinyl....I've got tile. I've looked on line at some vinyl companies and they are $$ for a quote that size. I'd of course be willing to pay, even if it's a bit more then we paid in Nov. Anyone know? Thanks!
Wheelies?
Hey, lovely ladies! We are in the process of tearing up our backyard in an attempt to do some heavy-duty landscaping, and I'm wondering if anyone happens to have a wheelbarrow we might be able to borrow for about a week. I'd happily make you some ubertasty made-from-scratch cupcakes in the flavor of your choice, in return. ;)

7 FREE 6' x 8' fence panels + posts -- CLAIMED
I have 7 fence panels in my backyard that are BEGGING to be taken. Seriously, begging. They are the regular old 6 feet tall x 8 feet long panels that all the builders use on their generic fences. A couple years ago, Gary moved the fence up from the back of our house to the front of our house to extend the backyard. He had planned on doing it on both sides of the house; however, after he moved up the first side, our lovely neighbor on the other side said that he would not give us permission to move our fence up on his side. Nice.
So, these panels have sat and been nothing but pure temptation for my adorable 2 year old Curious George. I'm afraid that he might end up breaking his neck climbing on them, so I'm putting my foot down. Do you want them?! PLEASE?!From what I can tell, they are not warped at all. They just need to be bleached, and then you can stain them whatever color your fence is ... or ... if you are ghetto like us and you haven't stained your fence ... they will match perfectly!
So ... do you want to extend your side yard? Please say yes! And please email me at peanut@gfsi.net if you want them. Really, you just have to come and get them! I think they are like $30/each ... or something ridiculous like that. Really, I'm offering you a bargain. Free.
Please take them so that my kid doesn't kill himself on them. Amen. ** If they aren't gone tomorrow ... I'm putting them on Craigslist. Really, I want them gone. GONE. :D

All she wants to do is dance...
Do you have a little dancer? Aliza decided to give up dancing this year for the finer things in life. Hopefully this will be the first step in squashing the Texas desire to be a cheerleader.
Anyway, this leaves us with some items that we have outgrown but unfortunately invested lots of money into, and we'd love to pass this stuff on to you!

I only ask 2 things...first that your daughter can use this stuff soon, not just taking it to save for a few years just in case, and second, when you are done with it, please pass it on to someone else who can use it (if it is still in usable condition) rather than selling it! You know, literally "Pay it Forward!" Thanks!!
These are dance capris (Liza liked to wear them over her leos)
The black ones are Basic Moves brand, size 8/10
The navy blue ones are Circo Med 7/8

Cute black leo, Bloch brand size 12 (runs small)

Capezio brand, size Large (also runs small)

Old Navy Yoga type capris, girls size Medium (both)
I don't know the size, probably like a med/lrg
(Liza's skin is very sensitive and the tags were "itchy")

Not dance related but barely worn size 4 flip flops, pink!
they run small and are supposed to fit quite tight...

These were given to us, and Liza never wore them, some dance studios require certain colors/types of shoes and she was never in a group that wore these, but I think they are a type of jazz shoe?? They have a hard bottom rather than the stretchy kind.

They are from Payless size 3. (If you want these as a pair of dress-up shoes, feel free to take them.)

This is a very nice pair of $80 tap shoes that were worn once a week for 4 months...they are Bloch brand and size 6, but they run very small and tight. I think she was wearing a girls size 4 when these fit...

Let me know if you want any of it, otherwise our neighborhood is having a garage sale in a few weeks and we can donate stuff to raise money for my friend Amber (who lost her little boy in December) and I am going to donate them to that...
Andrea (Opfars at aol dot com)
OH I almost forgot!!!
I have dance tights...the kind you get at dance stores that are $10-12 a pair and are required at most dance studios for recitals!! What a waste of money!!
I have 3 pairs of tan ones: Body Wrappers brand size M/L (two pairs, both have the bottoms that you can wear as leggin's for jazz shoes) and one pair Danskin size large with regular tights bottoms.
I have a pair of Body Wrappers pink, size m/l, and a pair of Capezio brand, black size large, both with regular tights feet.
I also have a regular pair of pink tights that are about the same size, but not "dance tights."

2. Twin/full bed frame (no headboard, just the frame)-$10
3. Full bed frame -$10
4. Radio Flyer Liberty Rocking horse (the kind with springs) It has a minor tear in the seat. Crafty people could probably sew it right up. You can see an image of it here (http://www.erockinghorses.com/rocking-horses/plastic/radioflyerlibertyspringhorsewithsoundoption.cfm) And for that I am asking $100.
5. Color copier/scanner/fax by Brother. GREAT condition, just needs ink- $30
6. We have a ton of Home Theater stuff like HDMI cords and cables, that if you have a need we can quote you a price.
7. An Icon Paint ball gun with accessories- $200 (for son or hubby)
If any of these things tickle your fancy just give me a jingle @ 214-674-9409.

Dog Sitter?
Must Love Dogs
We are in serious need of a dog sitter for part of spring break! We are headed to Nauvoo for a few days and usually we put her in a kennel but these days we are trying to save and budget and those things tend to be a bit expensive! It would be a HUGE help to us if someone could watch our dog for a few days in their home.
Here are the details:
Her name is Dulce and she is a mixed something and is 13 yrs old. She is completely house trained. She is very low maintenance and just needs to be fed, watered and let out a few times a day. She comes with all her own supplies and has current shots and is vaccinated. She does best around older children (older elem age and up) and adults. Dulce really is a VERY sweet dog. You will fall in love with her.
We will pay $75 for the job !!! If you have middle school or high school aged kids who want to make some money this is a great opportunity . . . or keep it for yourself!
The dates are from Friday night March 13th until first thing Wed morning of March 18th.
Please let me know if you or anyone you know may be interested and can help us out.
Please email me - ladybugpals(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks so much!

Calling All Crafters
Amy Jukes, Tani Pratt and I (Ami Aaron) have a booth at first Monday Trade days for March. We've had run ins with strep, the flu and a surgery so we're behind on getting a good inventory built up. If anyone wants to throw their stuff in with ours so we have enough to fill our tables, just let me know.

Need A Little Help
Hi Sarah-
I’m looking to borrow a wheat grinder to grind some of our food storage. Does anyone have one- either hand or electric? Second, I’m looking for some help next week babysitting Raina on Tuesday and Thursday. It would probably be from about 7:30am til at least 7:30 pm.
Thanks for your help.

Calling all shoppers!
Just a little heads up . . .
The Albertsons grocery store on McDermott and Custer in Allen and the one on Lebanon and Legacy in West Frisco are going out of business. I've only been to the one in Frisco. As of Monday all grocery items were 10% off and all general merchandise was 20% off. That's off the lowest marked price (sale or whatever). Their greeting cards were 50% off. They said that the prices are going to be dropping more each week until the 3rd week in February when they are supposed to close for good. For you couponing ladies, they are still accepting coupons, but they are not doubling or tripling them. They are not following any Albertsons weekly ads. However, they do have some good sales and I got quite a bit of stuff for FREE with my coupons. It's a great way to build up that short-term food storage. Can't wait to go back next week!

PICTURES!
Hello ladies!!
I'm working on finishing up the ward history for Frisco 4th and the Prosper Ward, and I need your help. Before you get scared, hear me out... :)
All I need are some pictures (if you have any) from different ward activities that we had throughout 2008.
Please e-mail me any pictures you have to:
jessica.withers {at} gmail.com
I don't care if they're only of your family! Please send them along! But do make sure to let me know who is in the pictures, and also what ward activity they were from.
Thank you so much for your help, and I look forward to receiving MANY photos! ;)

Formula
I have one can (12.9oz) of Enfamil LIPIL formula and 3 8oz ready to drink liquid Similac formula bottles. The Enfamil I just barely opened a few days ago and used 2 scoops out of it, but Austin refuses drink either of these, so anyone that can use them is welcome to them. Email me at abella526 @gmail.com or call me 303-877-9323 and they're yours!
Baby Food
UPDATE: The baby food has already been taken, but the formula is still up for grabs.
Anyone interested in some free Gerber baby food? I still have leftovers from Matt Mo and I'm finally cleaning out the pantry. It's mostly level 2 fruits and veggies and some level 3 dinners. A couple packs expire this month, but most of it is good for the whole year. Say the word and it's yours!
P.S. I also have a small can of Similac Isomil Advance soy formula I got in the mail as a free sample a while ago... it's unopened and good until 2010.
