Sewing help quick!

I have about 8 pairs of pant that my kids have with holes in them so I wanted to cut them and make them shorts since we don't have the $ to buy summer clothes. The problem is they start fraying around the edges and I try to fold them to hide it but they keep coming unfolded. I have NO idea how to sew and don't own a machine. I want to know if anyone knows how to sew so I can pay you to make a little hem to keep the bottom folded. We leave for Cali on Friday and I am hoping to get them fixed before then so my kids won't look homeless. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

if you find anyone that beats $10 for each let me know - that is how much the dry cleaners charge to do it. "some" charge $7 they say but I haven't found those.

It's not an easy or quick job - unless you are really good at sewing

Sis. Delgado is doing alterations out of her home so you may want to give her a call

The Target sale rack has some play clothes for super cheap, so if you haven't checked there lately it might actually be cheaper than paying to have pants hemmed up. (We're talking shorts for between $1 and $4 each!) If you're really in a bind (or, need a bind? tee hee!) you could use fusible tape that you iron on underneath the hem of the shorts. It can be purchased at JoAnn's Fabric store. I would sew them for you, but I am already in over my head with too many projects to count before my baby comes in a couple of weeks. Good luck, and have fun in California!
